Next beginning piping class will start the first week of October 2010. New students will be allowed to enter the 2nd and 3rd weeks but they will have to schedule a private lesson to catch up.
Beginner chanter and bagpipes classes are held Tuesday nights at Valley Community Presbyterian Church. Contact Us before showing up in case we get bumped by a performance and to get directions to the practice hall. Beginning chanter class starts at 6:45pm
Intermediate chanter class starts at 7:30pm
Beginning bagpipe class starts at 8:15pm Classes are provided by the band free of charge. You will have to purchase a practice instrument and metronome before attending your first class. These items are not made available or sold by the band. At present, drumming classes are not provided by the band. The band will help locate and pay for outside drumming instruction until an in-band drumming instructor can be hired/located. Practice chanters, drum sticks, and practice pads can be purchased locally from the Scottish Country Shop in SE Portland, the Kilt & Thistle Scottish Shop in Salem, Northwest Bagpipes (SW Portland), or on-line (froogle). You must register and then log-in to download the free instruction files.
